Handworking

This handwork section has wool, yarn and tools for knitting, crocheting and felting. Filges offers plant-dyed wool and yarn, and there is also Bioland organic fairy wool, bamboo knitting needles, crochet hooks and Dollbelge materials for dolls. Handwork teachers in Waldorf schools, kindergartens and families choose them.

In a Waldorf school, children in Class 1 learn to knit on two needles. Crocheting and sock knitting come later. Fairy wool is carded, unspun wool that can be felted, laid on the season table or used to stuff a doll. Soft, natural wool makes the work pleasant for the hands.
