Drawing

Drawing plays an important role in Waldorf education. During their first seven years, children draw with block wax crayons — their shape is easy for small hands to hold and allows children to create both broad areas of colour and lines of varying thickness.

When children start school, they use both block and stick wax crayons. Coloured pencils are gradually introduced around second grade, followed by a fountain pen around third grade. Writing tools are introduced in a planned sequence to gradually strengthen the muscles in children’s hands, reduce fatigue and preserve the joy of learning. Here you will find wax crayons, thick coloured pencils, pencil cases and paper — for drawing and writing at kindergarten, school and home.
